Background: Tazi Cristo had everything: A successful career, a loving husband and an adorable baby girl. Then, one night, in pursuing a story on the mysterious "businessman" Papa Boulet, she was captured by the local gang known as les Crânes. Thrown into the bayou with an anchor around her waist, Tazi clawed and scratched at her surroundings, trying to gain ground and freedom. As her hand moved along a rock face, an amulet broke free from its centuries-old home. Before she clearly knew what was going on, she had broken free of the chains and was soaring through the air with her wings.
Tazi has found that as the sun sets, she transforms into a gargoyle-like creature and patrols the night in secret to protect the innocents of New Orleans. During daylight hours, she can also will the transformation if needed, but maintains her secret identity as star investigative reporter for the New Orleans Herald.
