When Count Zero first arrived, it confirmed for the first time that there was life on other planets. What the general public was unaware of, however, was that there was a pursuit ship that crash landed during Zero's arrival that was found by the U.S. military. Based on this discovery, a top secret organization was commissioned to investigate the presence of alien races and, whenever possible, use the knowledge gained for the betterment of the American people. This organization was codenamed Project: Titan.
Project: Titan has expanded the parameters of their assignment under the directorship of Lance Slade. In addition to alien technology and lifeforms, they have been known to make use of (and on occasions confiscate if deemed "too dangerous" to be in the public domain) local tech as well. The organization tends to make use of decommissioned military bases and have been known to have resided at both Fort Sorensen in Iowa and at the underground bunker Fort Hughes just outside Las Vegas, Nevada. After the Fort Hughes invasion, a new security staff was recruited and put into place. Their current base of operations is unknown.
