Known Background: Cyrus Godfree is the second child of four. He has an older brother named Maxfield, a younger brother named Oscar and the youngest is a girl named Julie. Cyrus's family is a rich oil family out side of Dallas. His father, Ottoe, wanted all his sons to go into the business. Cyrus was the black sheep. He wanted to be a Texas Ranger. After high school Cyrus joined the army and became a Ranger and then after the Army he joined the Texas rangers. When Cyrus was 25 his father and older brother were in a plain crash. His brother, Maxfield, survived but was badly hurt and had to go to rehab to relearn to walk. His father Ottoe was killed. His younger brother was still in college so Cyrus had to leave his job as a TX Ranger and take over the family business. He hated the business. So he donned the secret identity of the Night Ranger and battled crime throughout the city of Dallas. His closest friend was Hall Lieth a fellow Texas ranger and was gunned down in the line of duty so Cyrus raised his son Peter (Aka:Wolf/ Silver Wolf).
When Maxfield got better and Oscar finished college Cyrus then decided to just keep fighting crime and spent as little time as possible in the office. He eventually was invited to join the Legion of Champions, but he turned them down for he wanted to fight crime as an independent and thought that super teams were only a publicity stunt. >
In the late 60's he was approached by the government to do some top secret work in Vietnam. He did this and was a great success. They then offered him a job to do international covert work full time. He became an international spy for the U.S.
While doing some work in England he had a brief relationship with a beautiful woman who had a comeliness that must have been above a twenty. This resulted in him having a daughter, to this day he does not know about her.
In the late 70's he had a big falling out with his superiors and in 1980 he returned to Texas. He began fighting crime again. He started feeling his age and was unable to keep up with the villains. Then in 1983 he was ambushed and beaten severely by an entire group of many of his greatest foes. He had to fight his way out and considering he had very few relations with any fellow crime fighters he was unable to get help.
Cyrus was hospitalized and was given an artificial leg and also wears an eye patch to this day.
He lived on the family estate, after the tragedy, for many years. He then started to regret that he turned down his one time chance to have some fellow friends that were adventurers as well. He decided to contact some other heroes and established friendships with such people as Ladyhawk, Techno-Wizard and a few others. He also established a friendship with one of his former enemies Key Master in the 1990s. Then in the late 1990's he was approached by muli-millionare Lot Lakewood to come to Ft Bernard, IN and help train the city's new crime fighter Fianna.
Cyrus liked the idea and moved immediately. He became Fianna's closest confidant and personal trainer. He and Fianna eventually left Lakewood and started their own business Godfree Security. He now runs a Security organization that is run out of Ft Bernard, Indiana.
