Sunshard had fought the fledgling D.C.Defenders and had lost. As the Defenders grew, Sunshard knew that to improve his chances against them, he needed to form a group of his own. Created in his own image, he formed the Sun Lords. He primarily recruited villains with fire and heat powers similar to his own and the villainesses who were fighting over him. The Sun Lords are a powerful, dangerous group, and have the singular distinction the most colour coordinated super villain team around.
